As I watched Into The Blue, I noticed that actress Ashley Scott,
who played the free-spirited Amanda, looked very familiar. When I looked her up
on the IMDB, I saw why. She played Helena Kyle, who was also the known as the
Huntress, on the show Birds Of Prey. Based on the DC Comic
of the same name, Birds Of Prey was a WB Network TV series that detailed the
adventures of a female superheroic team that operated out of Gotham City--the
very same Gotham City where Batman called home.
Scott's character on the series
was the daughter of Selina Kyle, who was the Catwoman, as well as Batman. After
her mother's death, she became a superhero in her own right as the Huntress. She
worked with Barbra Gordon(Dina Meyer), who was the Batgirl until the Joker shot her, leaving
her paralyzed from the waist down.
She reinvented herself as The Oracle, a
computer-genius who can get whatever information she needed anywhere in the
world through her keyboard. The third member of their crew was Black Canary, who
was played by Rachel Skarsten. Birds Of Prey didn't last beyond its first season.
Scott has also worked with Jessica Alba before Into The Blue when she starred
in Alba's series Dark Angel during the second season as Asha Barlow. Scott now
appears in the hit TV series Jericho.
