Gates McFadden is perhaps best known the world over as Doctor Beverly Crusher,
the Chief Medical Officer of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC 1701-D. Yet before she
even signed up for Starfleet, McFadden worked for the Jim Henson company as a
Muppet choreographer for the films The Dark Crystal, Dreamchild, and Labyrinth.
At this time she used the name Cheryl McFadden, and for Labyrinth, McFadden also
choreographed the big ballroom dance number, where Sarah and the Goblin King
danced together among a group of people clad in 18th century costumes and
goblin masks. Aside from her role as Crusher--which she played in six seasons
of Star Trek: The Next Generation, as well as four Next Gen movies--McFadden
can also be briefly seen as Jack Ryan's wife in The Hunt For Red October. She's
also guest-starred in many TV shows.
