Ghost Hunters On Sci-Fi...what the Frak?

Dude, wait, there's something tugging on my baseball cap. That just ain't right! The first question that comes to mind when seeing that an episode of Ghost Hunters included with the Special Features on the Caprica DVD is, what the frak is this doing here? But then again, a better question would be what the frak is Ghost Hunters doing on the Sci-Fi Channel at all? This "reality" series follows the exploits of a couple of plumbers, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, who moonlight as ghost chasers. Their organization, TAPS--The Atlantic Paranormal Society--checks out reportedly haunted locations by setting up an overnight exploration safari that’s loaded with all sorts of technical gear. But, for the most part, the shows mainly consists of infrared footage of them wandering around the darkened interiors like extras from the Blair Witch Project.

They never explain why they turn out the lights--especially when there are reports of people seeing, or experiencing, apparitions with the lights on, so what difference would it make to turn them off? Oh wait, of course...they turn out the lights because it’s makes for a more scary show. Don’t imagine for a moment that these guys actually do any real scientific research here. But to their credit, the show has its share of very creepy moments--and if you’re looking for a good, fun scare, you can’t go wrong here. It’s just…what the frak is this doing on the Sci-Fi Channel?! Next thing you know, they’ll be showing wrestling. Uh, um...never mind, I just remembered that they already are showing wrestling on the Sci-Fi Channel. Maybe Ghost Hunters is right at home there after all.
