"Pegasus: The Extended Episode"
A Five Star Episode from Battlestar Galactica: Season 2.5

Is it me, or does the Pegasus look like it's grinning? For the release of Battlestar Galactia Season 2.5, the episode "Pegasus" has been re-issued in an extended version, with almost 15 minutes of new scenes. Since I already reviewed the orignal broadcast episode here, I'll only deal with the added scenes in this mini-review.

Starbuck looking very sincere in a scene that was originally cut from the episode. The first added scene shows Kara pleading with Adama and Roslin to send a Raptor force back to Caprica to rescue the freedom fighters (as well as her lover). The second added scene shows Adama, Roslin and Tigh all speaking about Cain while they walk over to the hanger deck to greet her. This scene offers some insight into Cain, especially how she became an admiral so young. When Cain greets the Galactia crew, this is also extended. Here, she recognizes Baltar. The scene with Adama, Cain and Roslin all having a drink is also longer. Cain now gives greater details on how the Pegasus survived the Cylon onslaught.

In another reinstated scene from Pegasus, Sharon finds she doesn't like Cain too much. An added scene has Cain meeting Sharon, and the admiral is stunned to discover that "it" is freely working with the Galactia crew without the threat of violence. Another added scene is the one with Chief Tyrol and Cally's stunned reactions when they receive spare parts from the Pegasus. Lt. Gaeta also receives a digital library from his counterpart on the Pegasus (which leads to Gaeta whispering: "Do you have any porn?"). An extended scene shows Baltar pleading with Cain to allow him to properly care for the captured Cylon agent Gina. Cain is at first reluctant, but then gives in. There's a small bit added at the end of this same scene with Baltar complimenting Frisk, the Peggy's XO, on how new the ship is.

Is everybody taller than Baltar? There's an extended scene with Adama meeting with Cain aboard the Peggy. We learn that the Pegasus is a Mercury-Class vessel. The extended scene also makes mention of the old guns that Cain has on display in her conference room. There's an added scene with Tyrol, Cally, and the Pegasus deck chief where Callt strides up to Tyrol and says, "This is bulls**t, chief!" This is in response to the order given having the Peggy deck chief take over Tyrol's crew. Added bit with the Peggy's CAG warning Starbuck after she informs him that his plan to attack the Cylon fleet sucks. I've noticed that Cain has benefited the most from the extended scenes, which help to better flesh out her character and bring a far more added sense of dread concerning her actions. Overall, the added scenes help to turn an already excellent episode into an outstanding one.
