Case in point, starting with the second season episode "In Escrow", which has
Joy and Reggie in town looking at a new place to stay after they sold their
house. Seeing an ad for a new apartment outside of a building, they decide to
check it out. Reggie
falls hard for the new apartment, which has a lot of space, while Joy falls hard
for the landlord, a sensitive artistic man by the name of Angelo. Actor Peter
Williams, who is best known as the villainous Apophis, a system lord of the
Goa'uld race, plays Angelo. Apophis ruled the roost and threatened the SG-1 team
for the first two seasons of Stargate SG-1.
While both series have their elements of fantasy (Stargate SG-1
dealing with deep space exploration and defending the Earth against Goa'uld
oppressors; while Dead Like Me views the lives of a group of reapers who collect
the souls of people who were killed by the nasty gravelings), to look at the two
series on the surface, they don't appear to share that much in common. However,
both series were shot in Canada, and because of this, certain episodes of Dead
Like Me feature actors who have appeared on Stargate.
Also in the same episode, "In Escrow" Daisy Adair, feeling somewhat guilty about
stealing a cross from a dead woman, decides to go to confession for the first
time in 75 years. Tom McBeath plays the priest who hears her confession, and who
later meets Daisy face to face in "Rites Of Passage". McBeath is also better
known for a recurring role that he played on Stargate. He was Colonel Maybourne,
a persistent thorn in the side of Jack O'Neill and the SG-1 team. Maybourne was
a fellow Air Force officer with connections to the shadowy NID organization.
And finally, when Joy Lass decides to put her house up on the market in the
second season episode "The Ledger", she calls Linda, a local realtor to handle
the sale. Teryl Rothery, who was the beloved Dr. Janet Fraiser, the chief
medical officer on Stargate SG-1, plays Linda. With her snazzy wardrobe and
super saleswoman pitch, Linda gives Teryl an opportunity to show a more
humorous side. While they play their parts over the course of the season,
all three former SG-1 actors can be seen in the same episode:
"In Escrow", which saves the viewer the hassle of trying to track down all the
DLM episodes they're in. --SF
